1/27 – Thank you, Lord, for safe travels, on-time travels, and our entire luggage making it!

1/29 – And the Holy Spirit Moved In The team started the morning with the Revival Bible study from CPCC. Our daily devotion was centered on taking time to pray for our upcoming week – a “holy pause”. Coincidentally, the revival study today was also on prayer! As we joined in prayer a wind came upon us and it felt like the Holy Spirit! We felt God’s presence on the boat and knew it was going to be a good day. We saw 70 patients today. We had opportunities to listen to many prayer requests from the villagers around family, health and finances and to pray for them. There was a man/wife who traveled 3 hours by boat to meet us. He was recovering from a severe ankle wound. We were able to pray for him and his wife and for the infection. We thank God for the unity He brings this team, for the crew who are so gracious and loving and sincere, and for the honor of serving God’s people.

1/30 – The Swarm As we were ready to start devotionals on the upper deck, a swarm of bees arrived. Thousands of them! We moved to the kitchen to wait, but they would not leave. So we prayed… A few minutes later they were gone and we continued worship! No more devil that day! We visited 2 villages with total of 84 patients.

1/31 – The Chair for Elijah During devotion another wind came up and this time blew a single empty chair into the middle of the circle. We named this the chair for Elijah! :>) We visited 2 villages with 66 patients. We had 3 team members down today for various illnesses/strains—we lifted them up with healing prayers. The team pulled together and we covered well for being shorthanded. We took prayer requests from every family. At the end of the day, we read each name and prayer request and lifted them up in prayer. We will continue to do this throughout the week.

2/1 – Sunday Communion It was a great morning of communion and worship that set the tone for the day. Today feels like a holy day for serving! The team saw lots of kids this morning, with 12 of them playing soccer with our soccer ball as they waited their turn on the boat. We visited 2 villages with 73 patients.

2/2 – Fill Up! We started the day with scripture and music about filling us (and each other) with good things. God demonstrated with a fire rainbow, dolphins, herons, and a momma duck and 6 ducklings that walked right up to our boat. The team continued filling up by pouring into 30 patients throughout the morning. We were worried about the afternoon village attendance, but God showed up with 54 patients for total of 84! We continued to take prayer requests from everyone—it has been a true blessing to have a team translator able to speak the language and invest by praying with the villagers directly. Prayer-themes have centered consistently around family, health, finances and relationships; but a new one, addiction, is starting to show up. By the end of the day, we were filled up through serving.

2/3 – Quava We started the day learning about the Hebrew word “Quava” – we can do more things together than alone. Today we served a whopping 106 people! And the team and staff pulled together to make a long day go smoothly. We received our 3rd and 4th gift bags of fruit from the villagers today, and that added to our quava. Today was also full of children – their laughter and playfulness embodied the Holy Spirit! The team also serviced the villagers by providing plenty of medical and dental treatments, as well as eyeglasses, taking blood pressures, snapping pictures and lifting up prayer requests. God was right beside us all through the day.

2/4 – Hallelujah After a great devotion focusing on being mission-oriented and bringing in disciples, we were greeted with 30 patients on the boat waiting to be treated. It was a big day today--57 patients, just in the morning. In the afternoon, we went to CBM’s church where we were lovingly greeted by the congregation singing us worship songs. They made us homemade drinks and snacks, and we had an afternoon of fellowship. We donated soccer shirts, balls, and shoes to the organization, and heard about listening to the big dreams that God can put in our hearts. After participating in some soccer, we finished the tour with a visit to the greenhouse. Our big day was made complete by a beautiful, heart-felt, spirit-led foot washing ceremony where the team followed Jesus’ example to humbly serve by washing the feet of the boat staff. It was an incredibly powerful and emotional experience!

2/5 -Time to Reflect Today was a quick morning—we saw 9 patients (for a grand total of 548!) before starting the journey back to Manaus. We had a chance to process our time and reflect on the many ways God worked through us and in us during this trip. Our hearts are full of gratitude for this crew and all the people who touched our hearts along the way.
