AMAZON BOAT TRIP – MARCH 8-15, 2020
TALE-MED TEAM
Our service crew for this trip was from TaleMed Healthcare Staffing through Impacting Tomorrow and consisted of a physician, three nurses, and 8 non-clinical staff members. We were joined by a three-person dental team from a different region of Brazil. During our trip we visited five communities and provided care to over 400 people. During our time in Brazil we saw and treated conditions including ringworm, parasitic infections, snake bites, urinary tract infections, diarrhea, joint pain and injuries, vision problems, and also provided a large amount of vitamins and pain medications for the locals. Our dental team performed root canals, tooth repair, and tooth extractions, as well as education on dental hygiene.
Every day began with a devotional to help us prepare for the day and celebrate our faith, our health, and the chance to serve these communities. We had the opportunity to attend a local church service and play soccer at some of the villages we visited. As our trip wound down we found ourselves wishing we could stay longer, planning the next trip back, and working with Earl to identify ways we can continue to support CBM´s work. CBM proved to be a true part of the Amazonas community and offers amazing ongoing care and support (both medical and religious) to the people of this region. As CBM says: Christ. Life. Health.
